Sorry, but with a sick kid and the other adult in the house out of town for three days, I will not be there in person.

For first and second block

The assignment is Unit 6, Lesson 2, Investigation 4 beginning on p.432  in the purple book.

The class will watch the Khan Academy video on graphs of sine functions.  After this answer all the questions up through p.436.  You may want to refer back to the video or to other Khan Academy videos while doing the investigation.  There are links on the blog page for graphing trig functions (it drops down from the “AFM” button at the top of this page.)

There are also notes on that page about how to do answer some of the questions in the investigation.

You will be working in pairs with the person you share a table with.  The teacher will match people who do not have a partner.  Turn in one paper for your pair at the end of class, with all the work you have finished.

For third block, we will use the Coach Books for Algebra II:

First do Lesson 7 on Logarithms that begins on page 59.  The three properties we covered on Tuesday are described on page 59 and are used in examples on page 60 and 61.  Look over this and then do the problems on page 62-63.  Show your work on each problem.  Turn this page in when you have finished all 10 problems.

Then turn to page 10 to do the pretest.  Begin at question 1 and do as many questions as you can.  There will probably be some questions you don’t recognize.  If you are not sure about something, go ahead and do the best you can and choose the most likely answer.  In addition to putting a letter choice for the answer, rate your confidence for each question:

  • 5 – sure;
  • 4 – pretty confident I’m doing it right;
  • 3 – remember this problem type but not 100% sure I did the right thing;
  • 2 – could make a decent guess based on the answer choices;
  • 1 – maybe remember doing this but not anything about how.
  • IF YOU HAVE NO IDEA AT ALL on a question, you can write “I have never seen this before” and not put an answer.  Do not do this just because you aren’t sure or forgot – this should only be for questions of a type you think you have never seen.

Turn this in at 2:38.  Put the calculators and the books away and make sure the desks are cleaned off.
